New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said that All India Congress Committee meeting showed that the Congress had already conceded defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar took a dig at Congress leaders saying that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) had become a non-performing asset (NPA) and that the NDA would replace it at the Centre in the upcoming elections.
Speaking on Mani Shankar Aiyar's remarks on Narendra Modi, Javadekar said he should get well soon. "Aiyar's comments are an insult to the common man," he said on Aiyar's comments on Modi.
Mani Shankar had earlier mocked at Modi and said, "In this 21st century, Modi will never become the PM. If he wants, we can set up a tea stall for him at the AICC meet."
Javadekar also took on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's performance during the 10-year long UPA rule, saying, "PM did so well that he has announced his retirement already."
Sonia Gandhi in her speech at the AICC directly targeted BJP over communalism and reiterated her party's secular image. At this, Javadekar lashed out at the Congress party by evoking the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
"Sonia Gandhi tells us we are communal. They burnt Sikhs alive, displaced Kashmiris. Congress is communal," he said.
"Congress's approach to politics is communal. They party with muslim league which was responsible for partition. They are friends with Owaisi in Hyderabad. They are communal," he added.
