Ahead of the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Polls, Samajwadi Party (SP) National President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav stated that the next SP government will be a game-changer for the state. He slammed the incumbent BJP government for inflation, farmers distress, and lack of opportunities for setting up industries in the state.
“Today politics has reached a turning point. In the times to come, the hopes of the poor, farmers, laborers, businessmen, and forward and backward all rest on the Samajwadi Party. Only the SP can compete with the BJP,” Yadav told media persons during a press conference in Mirzapur on Friday.
“The public has seen five budgets of the BJP government. The promises made by the BJP and the announcements made in its resolution letter have all been forgotten. The BJP leadership had talked about doubling the income of farmers, but the leaders of the same party have brought a law that is a ‘death warrant’ for farmers. Farming will be occupied by a big business house,” he added.
Slamming the BJP government he accused them of selling national assets to corporate giants. “If there is a deficit in agriculture, will it be handed over to industrialists too? The farmer has not got the MSP, the BJP is giving only false assurance. The mustard crop is standing in the field, will the farmers get the MSP? Where profit from increased Diesel-Petrol prices is going? The government has destroyed the present-day and future of the people. Gas cylinders are being available in thousand rupees. The BJP government had shown a dream of capital investment, the public had also raised hopes but the dream remained a dream. Demonetization and GST have shut down industries and businesses,” he said during the press conference.
Claiming to ‘liberate’ Uttar Pradesh from BJP’s rule, Yadav counted his development works during SP tenure. “A French leader had come to Mirzapur, where a solar plant was set up, Metro service began under the SP rule in Noida. What did the BJP government develop?,” he said.
