All party meet ends, Oppn adamant on voting on FDI
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said after the meeting that voting on FDI is a precondition for a smooth Parliament session.

New Delhi: The all-party meeting called by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Tuesday ahead of the Winter Session is over and the government still has not acceded the Opposition's demand for a vote on FDI in retail. From what the Opposition politicians are hinting, it seems headed for a stormy scenes in the House.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said after the meeting that voting on FDI is a precondition for a smooth Parliament session. The CPI and the BJP have charged the UPA government of breaching the promise made to them that they will be consulted on the issue.

The Opposition has also demanded discussions on the CAG reports in coal block allocations. While former ally Trinamool Congress's chief Mamata Banerjee announced her party will bring a no-confidence motion against the Congress-led UPA government, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) wants a debate and a vote on the decision to allow foreign equity in multi-brand retail. The government has said it is ready for any motion that other political parties wish to bring in Parliament.
