New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday took up the issue of the tussle between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and Delhi Police, seeking his intervention in the issue.
Speaking to mediapersons following the meeting, Kejriwal said, "We feel as if Delhi Police is at war with Delhi government and this is not good," adding that he had requested the Prime Minister to "look into the matter".
Citing the foreign visits by Modi, Kejriwal further said that he told the Prime Minister that "we will work in Delhi and you will earn good name with it".
The Delhi Chief Minister also told the Prime Minister how Delhi L-G Najeeb Jung was "interfering with the functioning of the government".
Stressing on the need of "better communication with Centre", the AAP leader further said, "I told PM that we will fulfil Swachh Bharat or Digital India in Delhi, but for that better communication with Centre is needed."
Earlier, sources in the government had said that the CM would discuss land crunch for development projects and transfer and postings of bureaucrats, with the Prime Minister.
The AAP government and LG, who represents the Centre, are locked in a fight over several issues. During the Budget Session of Delhi Assembly, Kejriwal had said, he had sought an appointment to meet PM, but he did not get a chance.
In an open letter in June, Kejriwal had also appealed to Modi to take steps to improve Delhi's deteriorating law and order situation or hand over police to the city government.
"Delhi people have voted for us and the rest of the country supported Modi. So please let us run Delhi and you (Modi) run the country. Don't create trouble for us every day through the L-G. This is not being a good Prime Minister. Taking revenge for losing Delhi from people and AAP is not right," Kejriwal had said in the past.
