'BJP Changing Politics Here…': Javadekar on 'New Kerala Story', Says CM Vijayan at His Lowest Popularity
The BJP’s Kerala incharge for the Lok Sabha elections, Prakash Javadekar said the saffron party is confident about winning more than five seats in the state, where it has never opened its account in previous polls

Former union minister Prakash Javadekar, who is the BJP’s Kerala incharge for the Lok Sabha elections, said the saffron party is changing the politics of the state. He said the party is confident about winning more than five seats in the state, where it has never opened its account in the previous polls.

“We are confident of winning 5-plus seats. Politics here is changing, all vote banks are thinking differently. Everyone knows (Narendra) Modi will become the PM. Rahul (Gandhi) has no chance,” he said.

Javadekar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has delivered the benefits of the central schemes to 2 crore people in Kerala. He said the Congress and Left Democratic Front (LDF) has kept the discourse in the state divisive.

Talking about how the Congress and LDF resort to appeasement politics, he further said the BJP is not against any religion, but it is opposed to terrorism. “We are opposed to terrorism, not against religion. The SDPI (Social Democratic Party of India) supported the Congress. When Modi banned the PFI (Popular Front of India), the communists didn’t support it. This is competitive appeasement, but a great churn is taking place now,” he added.

The senior BJP leader said the party will cross the 35 per cent vote bank barrier in some constituencies. Chief minister P Vijayan is at his lowest popularity because of how he has converted the Marxist party into a dynastic party, he said.

“The Congress and the Left fight is stage-managed. I’m not fooled by that; it’s a mock fight and people know that they are being fooled. We are delivering prosperity. The new Kerala story is that we are changing the politics here,” he added.

Javadekar reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s confidence that the BJP’s outreach will bring positive electoral results for the party in southern states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala. All 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state will go to polls on April 26.

A few days ago, targeting the Congress and LDF, the PM said the Christian community in Kerala has become fed up with the “lies” while asserting that the trust of the community in the BJP has grown stronger.

The BJP has been making concerted efforts to woo the community, who are influential in a number of Lok Sabha seats in Kerala, as the party looks to make a serious impact in the state where it has never been able to win any seat.
