The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are locked in an all out war over tit-for-tat corruption charges, suggesting that even the third day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament will be a washout.
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been facing repeated disruptions and the houses are unable to keep up scheduled business because of Opposition's ruckus in Parliament.
According to sources, the BJP has made an elaborate gameplan to target the Opposition on the floor of the House. The party has planned to rake up the latest scam to hit Congress – the bribery case involving US firm Louis Berger for projects in Goa and Assam.
The party has also assigned its leaders to take up the issues of solar scam and bar bribery scam in Kerala, apart from the alleged scam involving flood relief funds in Uttarakhand. Rising suicides in Karnataka's sugarcane belt will be another issue.
The BJP will also raise the issue of alleged kickbacks received by Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh from a steel company.
And this is not all. The ruling party also plans to attack the Trinamool Congress to raise the issue of the recent abduction of a minor girl, Tuktuki Mondal, in South 24-Parganas.
Congress MPs on Wednesday shouted slogans, wore black bands and brandished anti-Modi posters, even as they continued their demand for the resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj over the Lalit Modi row.
Hitting back at the Congress party, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley slammed the opposition for not allowing a discussion in the House, accusing it of being unprepared.
Following the adjournment of both Houses of Parliament for the day on Wednesday, the BJP sought to turn the tables on Congress over corruption, as it came out with a series of allegations against Congress leaders.
The ruling party released a video claiming to expose Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat's alleged nexus with the state's liquor mafia. In the video, Rawat's personal secretary was allegedly seen seeking bribe from liquor mafia. Harish Rawat, however, denied all charges.
The BJP also hit out at former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister PK Thungon who was convicted in a 1998 corruption case.
