The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has relaunched its membership campaign, starting on Monday, September 2. Party President JP Nadda kicked off the drive by enrolling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a member. Following this, top BJP leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, also signed up.
Amit Shah emphasised the unique nature of BJP’s membership campaign, noting that it is the only political party in the country that conducts such a campaign democratically. Shah stated that the party aims to reach a goal of 10 crore members, with workers playing a crucial role in connecting the organisation to the government.
Reflecting on the party’s history, Shah highlighted PM Modi’s pivotal role in institutionalising the membership campaign, recalling his involvement since the 1980s. Shah praised Modi’s approach, which he believes has significantly strengthened the party’s organisational structure.
Rajnath Singh also praised PM Modi for his credibility and commitment to fulfilling campaign promises. Singh remarked that BJP’s focus is on building society rather than merely forming a government.
