Raipur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader L K Advani said on Monday that his party would create a separate Telangana state in Andhra Pradesh if voted to power at the centre.
"Whatever the BJP says, it translates into action. The BJP claimed to create Chhattisgarh state and it stuck to its promise. Now I am saying BJP will create Telangana state if voted to power at the centre," Advani said an election rally in Raipur.
"I always feel proud and satisfied after coming to Chhattisgarh because as a union home minister I moved a bill in Parliament for the creation of this state which was passed unanimously," the BJP leader remarked.
The last phase of the two-round election in Chhattisgarh is taking place on November 20. Of the total 90 seats, 51 go to polls on that day. The 39 seats, mostly in Maoist-affected areas of the state, went to polls on November 14 in the first phase.
Advani said the return of the BJP government in the state "is must for accelerating the pace of development in Chhattisgarh".
