Beed: Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra deputy chief minister R R Patil on Saturday said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies are trying to divide the nation on basis of religion.
"By raking up issues like Ram Mandir, Varun Gandhi's hate speech, it is clear that BJP is trying to divide the nation religious lines," Patil said addressing a rally in Georai.
The NCP leader on Saturday addressed two rallies in Beed district, one in Georai and another one at Shiroor tehsil.
Patil said voters for sure would reject parties with such policies and ideologies.
Patil said while BJP talked of religion, United Progressive Alliance (UPA) cared for farmers and came out with a mammoth loan waiver package for debt-ridden farmers.
In the Shiroor rally, Janata Dal (Secular) leader Sushila Morale joined the NCP in presence of R R Patil.
Forest Minister and Guardian Minister Babanrao Pachpute, MLC Usha Darade, former MLA Sayed Salim, Badamrao Pandit and candidate of the NCP-Congress-Republican Party of India alliance Ramesh Adaskar were also among those present on the occasion.
