A case has registered at Lanka Police station in Uttar Pradesh against AAP Leader Sanjay Singh and nine others for violating section 144 and holding a rally in Varanasi.
Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday had defied Section 144 imposed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency of Varanasi.
The rally was held after its workers were allegedly assaulted by ABVP members as they agitated for a 24-hour library at Benaras Hindu university.
Sources say the local administration is likely to register a case against the organiser and AAP leader Sanjay Singh.
The battle between the Aam Aadmi party and the Modi government has now headed to PM Modi's constituency of Varanasi.
Following the alleged assault, AAP had declared a Budhi Sudhi Rally in the city as a form of a protest.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh had reportedly said that the administration had promised to give a nod to the rally all along and cancelled it on the day of the event.
"This rally is also to expose the secret tie-up of Modi and Akhilesh," Singh added.
