New Delhi: Intensifying its attack on Railway Minister PK Bansal over the alleged involvement of his nephew in the Railway Board bribery scandal, the BJP on Sunday demanded a CBI probe into the case.
BJP leader Satyapal Jain while addressing a press conference, demanded the Railway Minister's resignation and said Bansal should clear whether his nephew Vijay Singla was given contract to supply 'Rail Neer' water bottles in trains.
Jain further said that he is surprised that the Railway Minister has not been interrogated as the FIR was filed three days back. The BJP leader alleged that 15 relatives of Bansal are in the Board of Directors of various companies. "BJP will not let go off the issue, we are keeping all options open," Jain said.
Meanwhile, the decision on whether Bansal's resign will be accepted or not will be taken on Monday morning i.e. after voting ends in Karnataka on Sunday evening and before Parliament resumes on Monday, said sources on Sunday.
Bansal had offered to resign after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested his nephew Vijay Singla on Friday evening for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 90 lakh to ensure a plum posting for Railway Board Member Mahesh Kumar
Singla along with three other suspects was sent to four days of CBI custody in connection with the bribery scandal on Saturday. Other than Singla and Mahesh Kumar, Sandip Goyal and three others - who allegedly brokered the deal - have also been arrested. All of them except Mahesh Kumar were produced in a Delhi court on Saturday.
