Centre denies any deal as Congress continues to gun for Swaraj, Raje; stormy Monsoon Session imminent
The government has decided to not act against Sushma Swaraj or Vasundhara Raje to convince the Congress for the passage of GST or Land Acquisition Bill.

The Narendra Modi government appears to be in no mood to bog down to the pressure by the Congress party over the Lalit Modi controversy ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

According to sources, the government has decided to not strike any deal with the Congress party to ensure a smooth Parliament session. The government is, however, willing to go for any debate on any issue.

There have been no talks between the government and the Congress on the running of Monsoon session. Sources said that the government would not act against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj or Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to convince the Congress for the passage of GST or Land Acquisition Bill.

The three-week Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin from July 21. It is likely to be a stormy affair with the opposition gunning for the resignation of Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje over the Lalit Modi visa fiasco.

Notably, the Congress has launched a continued offensive against the NDA government over former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi, involving Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje.

The government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have, however, rallied behind the two leaders, ruling out any wrongdoing on their part.

While top leaders of the Congress party have produced several documents alleging wrongdoing on the part of the BJP leaders, the government has maintained that none of its ministers or leaders is tainted.
