New Delhi: The Congress Core Committee meeting has begun. The committee is expected to take the final decision on a possible alliance with the National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Senior Congress leaders are also expected to meet NC President and chief ministerial candidate Omar Abdullah on Tuesday.
Earlier, Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi met J-K leaders Saifuddin Soz and Ghulam Nabi Azad to discuss the best options for her party in J-K.
Also it is evident that the Congress is not averse to the idea of sharing power and wants to retain the J-K model. Although it wants to give the regional party the first chance.
Congress had earlier said that "all options are open" for the party.
"There is a consultation going on. It's a situation where there are constraints and variables. All options are open at this juncture," party spokesman Manish Tiwari had told reporters in New Delhi.
"I am neither confirming nor denying A, B or C option...we have not closed any option. Closure of any option means a decision has been taken," he said while answering a query whether Congress has decided to tie up with National Conference (NC) or the option of an alliance with People's
Democratic Party (PDP) was still open.
