New Delhi: Amidst growing discontent within the Congress, the disciplinary committee of the party will look into former finance minster P Chidambaram's son Karti's comments criticising the party high command.
Karthi had said that the party needs to to revisit the observer style of functioning. "Tamil Nadu Congress requires more autonomy. Solution cannot come from Delhi. I would like state unit to be like Kerala. It is an independent strong unit. They run unit in autonomous manner," Karti had said.
Lashing out at Karthi for his comments, senior leader Digvijaya Singh had suggested that he should leave the party if he was not happy with it. Without naming Karti, he said, "We are an inclusive party. Those who disagree with this idea can leave the party."
"We are a political ideology which believes in liberal modern inclusive politics and inclusive economy. We believe in inclusive socio-economic policy. Anyone who doesn't believe in this ideology can go wherever he wants to," added the Congress general secretary.
The junior Chidambaram voiced his opinion after the exit of senior party leader GK Vasan from the Tamil Nadu Congress unit. The Tamil Nadu Congress suffered a major blow when Vasan left the party to relaunch his father's Tamil Manila Congress party. He quit the party following the elevation of Elangovan as the new party chief in the state.
Speaking on Vasan, Digvijaya said, "It is not the first time that GK Vasan has left the party. He had left in 1996 as well."
