Court asks cops to arrest Ajit Singh
A Haridwar court has asked Delhi Police to arrest and produce RLD chief Ajit Singh before the court by July 10.

New Delhi: A Haridwar court on Wednesday asked Delhi Police to arrest and produce Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh before the court by July 10 in a defamation case.

Issuing a non-bailable warrant against Singh, Special Judicial Magistrate Kalishankar Shukla took exception to Singh's callous attitude of not responding to the summons and bailable warrants issued by the court earlier.

The court has asked the Delhi Police Commissioner to arrest and produce him before the court by July 10, said Arun Kumar Bhadoria, the advocate who filed the case.

Bhadoria, a Samajwadi Party leader, had filed the defamation case against Singh in November 2006 for describing SP as a party of "goondas and mafia" in a public meeting in Haridwar.

Thereafter, the court had issued several summons and a bailable warrant against Singh.

Later, the advocates of Singh appeared before the court and urged it to dismiss the case on May 20. But Singh's plea was rejected and he was asked to be present personally

before the court.

However, Singh neither applied for bail nor appeared before the court prompting the court to issue a non-bailable arrest warrant against him.
