New Delhi: It's the third phase of polling in West Bengal on Wednesday. The fate of 479 candidates including that of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will be decided.
75 assembly constituencies at stake and all eyes will be on Kolkata, which also votes today along with the two districts of North and South 24 Parganas.
The areas are predominantly Trinamool strongholds and Mamata Banerjee will look to make more political gains. The fate of CPI(M) heavyweights - including 12 ministers of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's cabinet - will be decided today.
The key candidates battling the third phase of polling today are: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee taking on his former chief secretary Manish Gupta at the Jajdavpur constituency of South 24 paraganas.
Buddhadeb holds roadshow in Howrah district
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Tuesday held a roadshow in Howrah district in support of the Left Front candidates.
Bhattacharjee started his roadshow from the Shibpur Botanical Garden in an open jeep along with the Left Front candidates of Howrah North, Howrah Central and Shibpur.
He covered a distance of around 15 km in the roadshow which ended at Salkia Chowrastha.
A large number of supporters joined Bhattacharjee's roadshow.
