Delhi Vigilance Director orders L-G appointee Mukesh Meena not to join ACB, says post already occupied
The Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi had criticised the L-G for appointing Meena accusing him of overstepping his jurisdiction.

New Delhi: In a new twist in the appointment of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) chief Mukesh Meena by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, the Delhi Vigilance Director has written to new chief telling him that there is no place for him in the ACB.

The letter says that there is only one post of Additional Commissioner of Police in the ACB and that is presently occupied. Meena has been told that there is no sanctioned post for him and hence, he must return to his post in the Delhi Police. Meena held the position of Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police prior to this appointment.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi had criticised the L-G for appointing Meena accusing him of overstepping his jurisdiction.

Amidst the ongoing turf war between Jung and AAP government, Delhi Police Joint Commissioner MK Meena was been appointed the new chief of Delhi's Anti Corruption Branch by the former. One joint commissioner and seven inspectors have been posted to the Delhi government's anti-corruption branch.

Reacting to the move, AAP government hit back saying the appointment is contempt of court because the Delhi High Court had said that the ACB is under the Delhi government, not the L-G.

Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia criticised Meena's appointment as the head of the ACB and alleged a conspiracy behind the move. "What is the hurry behind constituting a post of Joint Commissioner in ACB? What is the conspiracy behind posting one's favourite man and asking him to join in the night itself," Sisodia asked.

Sisodia alleged that Meena had tried to "trap" him by trying to make suicide of a farmer in rally in Jantar Mantar in April as a murder. "One should remember that this is the same officer who had termed Gajendra Singh's suicide as murder and conspired to frame me by writing a fake script," Sisodia said.

The Home Ministry had earlier issued a statement that Lt Governor is the final authority to decide on appointments to Anti-Corruption Branch.
