Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa wants to be the state president once again, said sources on Wednesday. The post of Karnataka BJP president would be vacant by the end of March. The current president Prahlad Joshi's term is set to end later in March.
Keeping the 2018 Assembly polls in mind, most of the party workers are backing Yeddyurappa. However, there are high chances that other chief ministerial candidates would oppose his candidature.
Since he returned to the party ahead of 2014 Lok Sabha elections that swept the Modi government to power, Yeddyurappa has been kept out of the state politics on account of the corruption cases pending against him in various courts.
He had to put up with the ignominy from state leaders as he was not being consulted on party issues or in the selection of candidates for polls held in last two years.
