Panaji: A crucial meeting of the Congress to finalise the first list of candidates for Goa Assembly election would be held on Tuesday in Delhi.
Party sources here said Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Subhash Shirodkar and some other leaders have already left for the national capital to participate in the Screening Committee meeting.
After the Screening Committee clears the list, it will be put up before the Central Election Committee, which will give the final approval.
Party's Campaign Manager in the state Mauvin Godinho said the speculation about Congress candidates appearing in the media had no credence.
"Screening Committee, headed by Oscar Fernandes, has been carefully scrutinising the shortlisted candidates and evaluating them on merit."
Goa, where the Congress is in power in alliance with NCP, is going to polls on March 3.
The Congress is in talks with NCP for a pre-poll alliance in the 40-member House. Ten seats are likely to be allotted to the Sharad Pawar-led party, sources said.
