Bangalore: Former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa's bail hearing is scheduled to come up in the Karnataka High court on Monday. His counsel Jayakumar Patil had on Friday sought a three-day bail so that Yeddyurappa could spend Diwali with his family at home.
Yeddyurappa's plea was opposed on the ground that the former chief minister could influence key witnesses.
It is now expected that Yeddyurappa, who was arrested on October 15 and sent to judicial custody, may now have to spend Diwali behind bars in prison with a special Lokayukta court further extending his custody till November 3 on Saturday.
Earlier on October 16, Yeddyurappa was shifted to a hospital after he complained of chest pains. He returned to jail on Wednesday after getting discharged from the hospital on Tuesday only to get admitted in another hospital the very same evening.
There were reports that he was upset with LK Advani over his comment on corruption in the BJP and that was the main reason he wanted to shift to jail despite his poor health.
