Mayureshwar (West Bengal): Accusing Trinamool Congress, Left and Congress of "failing" to provide even basic facilities like drinking water, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said it is time West Bengal moves to BJP and Narendra Modi for ushering in an era of development.
Addressing poll meetings in Suri and Mayureshwar in Birbhum and Murshidabad districts, he alleged that over six-decade rule of Left, TMC and Congress had "ruined" the state and these parties could not provide even basic amenities like drinking water.
"It is time to move with BJP and Modi for development," he told a rally in Muslim-majority Murshidabad district. Murshidabad once flourished during the regime of Siraj- ud-Daulah, the last independent Nawab of Bengal, but it is today among the five least developed districts in the country, Prasad said.
Asking the people to vote for BJP in Mayureshwar, he said voters should elect a government under which they can live in peace and security by ushering in a new era of development.
He claimed people are "fed up" with rising crime rate and the profound sense of insecurity in the state where there is complete lack of development and even the supply of drinking water is still a "big issue".
He said once a progressive state like Bengal should once again move on the path of progress by ushering in speedy development.
