Hyderabad: Anticipating backlash from Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy's supporters following his arrest by CBI in disproportionate assets case, Andhra Pradesh Police on Sunday beefed up security across the state, particularly in Hyderabad and Kadapa district.
"Precautionary measures are in place to thwart possible attempts by (Jagan's supporters) to cause violent acts... district SPs are monitoring the law and order situation," Additional DGP (Law and Order) SA Huda said.
Asked on the dharna undertaken by Jagan's mother and MLA YS Vijaya and other family members, he said they were trying to convince them to withdraw the agitation.
Vijaya and others who reached Dilkusha guest house soon after being informed about Jagan's arrest resorted to sit-in in front of the building.
Meanwhile, section 144 CrPC, which bans assembly of more than four persons, has been clamped in the city to prevent untoward incidents. CCTVs have been installed near Nampally to keep a tab on trouble makers.
Hyderabad Traffic Police have also announced traffic restrictions on way leading to Nampally.
