New Delhi: Three days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR and conducted raids at YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy's properties, close to 25 Congress MLAs and two MPs are contemplating resigning from the Congress party.
Sources say that Jagan’s loyalists are protesting the CBI probe. They feel that the Congress high command is victimising Jagan and are even more irked by allegations of corruption on late CM YSR Reddy.
The 25 Congress MLAs and the two MPs are expected to submit their resignations to the speaker on Monday morning. The CBI had conducted raids in five cities in connection with disproportionate assets case against Jagan.
Jagan’s mother, YS Vijayamma wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday pleading to bring some semblance of justice, sanity and fair play in the ongoing investigation.
In the five-page letter to the Prime Minister, the late YSR's widow attacked Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and asked if the CBI investigation against her son was not a clear case of 'witch-hunting and political vendetta'.
