Jammu: Announcing an increase in central funds for the state under NRHM from 85 to 90 per cent, Union Health and Family Welfare minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Satureday offered special incentives to doctors serving in rural areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
Under the National Rural Health Mission, the share of central funds for the state has been increased to 90 per cent and the Jammu and Kashmir government will have to contribute only 10 per cent of the total allocation, Azad told a public meeting in Rajouri.
He pointed out in other states; the central share under the scheme was only 75 per cent.
"The doctors serving in rural areas in Jammu and Kashmir will get special incentives," Azad said.
In an effort to improve health services in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre has decided to pay special incentives to doctors serving in rural areas, he said.
Responding to a demand by locals, the Union Minister also announced upgradation of the 30-bed hospital at Nowshera.
The capacity of the hospital will be increased to 100-bed for which the funds will be provided by the Centre," Azad said.
