J'khand: 2 cops suspended for slapping legislator
Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda announced suspension of two policemen accused of slapping a BJP legislator on Thursday.

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda announced suspension of two policemen accused of slapping a BJP legislator on Thursday.

Uma Shankar Akela of BJP and Janardan Paswan a legislator of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) raised the issue in post lunch session of the Assembly.

"We were going to Birsa roundabout to join an agitation. The gate was closed and we requested the Sub Inspector (SI) to open the gate. The SI misbehaved with us. When we revealed our identity then we were abused."

"One Assistant Sub Inspector came on the spot and slapped me," Akela said.

Both ruling and opposition members expressed their unhappiness and came in the well of the House seeking action against the cops. The house was adjourned for nearly half an hour over the issue.

Munda announced that both cops have been suspended.
