Kanshi Ram Nagar (UP): Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh on Thursday filed his nomination papers for the Etah Lok Sabha constituency without much fanfare.
Kalyan was accompanied by his son Rajveer Singh besides his lawyers and rode a gleaming Mitsubishi Pajero to reach the venue.
Just about 50 supporters and a lot of security personnel greeted the 77-year-old leader who is entering the electoral fray as an independent candidate with Samajwadi Party's support.
Kalyan had arrived in this district, around 55 km from Aligarh, on Wednesday night.
The former BJP leader performed puja at one of his supporters residence Kumkum Varshney before embarking for filing his nomination before the District Magistrate.
Dressed in his trademark dhoti-kurta, he waved at people on the way and greeted his supporters.
"This is not about one seat. It is not the friendship of two individuals but two powers. We (Kalyan Singh and Mulayam Singh Yadav) have come together for uplift of OBC's and to remove the Mayawati led BSP government from Uttar Pradesh," he told PTI.
