Railways to increase lower berth quota for senior citizens by 50%, says Suresh Prabhu.
Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday presented his second Railway Budget in Parliament. Prabhu in his Budget plan has given 33% reservation to women in reserved quota. Refraining from populist measures, the minister has focussed on increasing passenger amenities, safety without hiking the fare.
The Railway Minister said 20,000 screens across 2000 stations will be installed to provide real time information to passengers and generate revenue through advertisements.
