New Delhi: Senior Party leader LK Advani's resignation letter has become an ammunition for a poster war. Advani sent his strongly-worded resignation letter to BJP President Rajnath Singh on Monday and on Tuesday several posters with his letter have been pasted near the party headquarters in New Delhi. Moreover, the posters were titled BJP ka pardaphas (Expose the BJP).

Sources say that the posters are being used to target the anti-Advani group within the BJP. Similar posters have been pasted in other areas of Delhi too. But soon after the posters were pasted near the BJP offices, someone removed them.

Earlier on Monday the BJP Parliamentary Board met and Rajnath Singh rejected Advani's resignation. Rajnath said that he would never accept Advani's resignation and called him the tallest leader of the party who must be respected.

In the one-page resignation letter on Monday, Advani said, "For some time I have been finding it difficult to reconcile either with the current functioning of the party, or the direction in which it is going. Most leaders of ours are now concerned just with their personal agendas." Advani had skipped the three-day deliberations of the party in Goa over the weekend citing health reasons. This was the first time Advani had stayed away from the National Executive and the office bearers' meeting prior to it in the over three-decade existence of the party.

Advani said the BJP was no longer the "same idealistic party" created by Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, Deendayal Upadhyaya, Nanaji Deshmukh and Vajpayee. "All my life I have found working for the Jana Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party a matter of great pride and endless satisfaction to myself," said Advani in his resignation letter.
