Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cabinet has cleared a cost escalation worth Rs 622 crore in the existing 147 irrigation projects across the state.

The cost escalation in irrigation projects has been the centre of a political controversy in Maharashtra with Ajit Pawar who was water resources minister for 10 years even having to resign in the wake of an expose of alleged irregularities.
