Maharashtra polls: After parting ways with Sena, BJP to declare its candidates today

Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party will announce its list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections on Friday evening, after it parted ways with its 25-year-old ally Shiv Sena.

The party, however, has decided not to project its chief minister candidate.

The Shiv Sena, on the other hand, will not make public its list of candidates. The Sena high command has asked its candidates to file their nomination directly.

The BJP called off its alliance with the Shiv Sena on Thursday. Both the parties held numerous rounds of negotiations over seat sharing but in vain. While the Shiv Sena always contest more number of seats in Assembly elections, BJP, after registering a historic win in Lok Sabha sought more seats for itself.
