Lucknow: Reiterating that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) would go alone in the Lok Sabha election, party President and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Friday announced that she would launch the election camapaign from Kerala.
A rally in Thiruvanathapuram on Saturday would mark the launch of 50-day national campaign during which all the states would be covered, she said.
Addressing a luncheon press conference in Lucknow, Mayawati made it clear that there would no pre-poll understanding with any party in the country and the party desired to contest all the Lok Sabha seats.
''I would cover almost every parliamentary constituency in the country and would address meetings on each day from March 21 to May 11,'' she said.
The BSP supremo, who released a special election appeal for the electorate on the occasion, asserted that the developmental works carried out by her party-led UP government would be main plank in the Lok Sabha election campaign.
When asked if there was any specific reason to launch the election camapaign from down south, she said since the BSP had assumed a pan India approach and its organisations had been set up in many states, it was not significant as from where the party launched its campaign.
Parrying all the questions about the pre-poll or post-poll scenario, Mayawati said all such queries were relevant only after the polls results were out.
She categorically denied to have any intention to meet All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader Jayalalithaa or any leader to garner support for the Third Front.
''I do not intend to waste time in meeting other party leaders as BSP has already decided to contest on its own,'' she pointed out.
