Modi's views on Unnao excavation misinterpreted: Shah
Amit Shah claimed there is a Modi wave and the BJP will win by a huge margin in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's key aide Amit Shah, who is also the party's in-charge for Uttar Pradesh, has spoken out in support of the excavation at a fort in Unnao where 1000 tonnes of gold is reported to be buried. Shah claimed that Modi's views on the issue were misinterpreted.

In an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN, Shah defended Modi and said that building Ram Temple in Ayodhya was not on BJP's agenda.

Below is an excerpt of the transcript:

CNN-IBN: Temple is not your poll agenda. But we see in Unnao the government is digging a fort. Modi had earlier made fun of the excavation, and then he later backtracked. Did you tell him that he should not challenge the sadhus?

Amit Shah: Modi's statement has been misinterpreted. He meant to say that a huge quantity of treasure is kept in foreign countries. The Congress government doesn't want to bring it back. The government should try to bring it back. This is what Modi said.

CNN-IBN: Laxmikant Vajpayee has alleged that Shobhan Sarkar's spokesperson, Omji, is a former Congress man. So the letter that they wrote was part of the Congress agenda?

Amit Shah: What Modi has said was in context of the treasure (kaala dhan) that Congress is not trying to get from foreign countries.

CNN-IBN: Your MLA Satish visited the sadhu today. Do you think BJP and party leaders in UP are scared that the statements may have misfired?

Amit Shah: There is no reason to worry. When the polls happen you will be surprised to see the BJP win by a huge margin. People in UP are hopeful that Modi will bring about positive changes.

What's your reaction?
