New Delhi: The Congress is set to hold its Central Election Committee meet on Wednesday to work on its strategy ahead the Lok Sabha polls. The party could take a decision on the future of former Cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and Union Minister Verrappa Moily.
Both Azharuddin and Moily did not feature in the first list of Lok Sabha candidates released by the Congress. According to sources, the second list of the candidates for the Lok Sabha polls is likely to be released soon.
The Congress in its first list of candidates for the elections had named Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Vice President Rahul Gandhi, IT expert Nandan Nilekani and cricketer Mohammad Kaif among 194 candidates.
The list also contained names of several new and young faces. Party sources said 35 per cent of the candidates are under the age of 50. 28 of the 194 candidates in the list were women.
