New Delhi: Facing strident criticism from Opposition parties for the deadly Naxal attack in Bastar, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh will hold an all-party meet on Thursday to discuss the menace. The decision to convene the all-party meeting came hours after Congress demanded immediate resignation of the Chief Minister.
However, sticking to its demand for Raman Singh's resignation for the security lapse, the Congress on Wednesday said that the party will boycott the meeting. The state unit has maintained that such meetings have no meaning as the state government did nothing to provide security to the Congress leaders.
Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh government has appointed a one-man commission under High Court judge Justice Prashant Mishra for a judicial enquiry into the attack. A special session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly too has been called on June 3 to discuss the Naxal issue.
Minister of State for the Home Ministry RPN Singh said anti-Naxal operations will be intensified and also ruled out holding peace talks with the extremists unless they abjure violence.
