Yadav claimed that Naxalites did not target the common people, except those who "spied" on the outfit.

Patna: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Friday claimed that Naxalites did not target the common people, except those who "spied" on the outfit.

"The Naxalites never target common people as we have observed during past several years, but if somebody spies for the police they are targetted," he told reporters here.

However, Yadav termed as "misrepresentation and distortion" of facts quoting him that he had justified civilian killing at the hands of Naxalites.

Targetting the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar, Yadav demanded to know from the chief minister what he lacked from the Centre to tackle the Naxal menace.

"Kumar is an abject failure which has led to spread of activities of Naxals in every part of Bihar. We want Kumar to explain what exactly the state lacks from the Centre to tackle the menace," Yadav said.

"Merely speaking against the Centre for non-cooperation on the issue will not suffice ... he should detail what the state really wants from the Centre," said the RJD leader.

He also targeted the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on the same lines.
