New Delhi: In reply to Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit’s claim that the Nitish-Kumar-led JD(U) may join the Congress after the elections, Nitish Kumar has denied any such possibility.
He called Sheila Dikshit’s claim as baseless. Nitish said, “We have no connections with the Congress party.”
Instead of accepting that he is thinking of aligning with the Congress, Nitish drew parallels between the thought-school which is common to the Left and the JD-U.
“We share many opinions with Left like on nuke deal, etc but it doesn’t mean that there are any chances of alliance between us,” Nitish categorically remarked.
On being questioned if he harboured any ambition to be Prime Minister someday, Nitish Kumar said, “I am not capable of becoming Prime Minister. I don’t even dream of it.”
Sheila Dikhsit had raised quite a debate when she had remarked in an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN, “Nitish Kumar has hinted that he may join the UPA but I have no idea if he will act on it or not. He will also wait to see which way the poll results go.”
"There is a talk going on with Nitish Kumar but at what level and on what scale is lost on me because I am not a part of the negotiations," Dikshit had added.
There are speculations in the political circle that JD(U) may sever links with BJP and join UPA after the elections. But the BJP and JD-U spokespersons had reiterated that there was no such possibility.
