Mathura: With the Narendra Modi government completing one year in power on Tuesday, the Prime Minister addressed a rally in Mathura on Monday. Lauding his government's efforts in past one year, Modi said his government has decimated the power circles which used to run the country.
Modi presented a report card for one year which he asserted has been free of corruption and scams but has brought "bure din" (bad days) for those who have "robbed" the country in their 60 years of rule.
He slammed the UPA government saying that if they remained in power there would have been a scam a day. "Situation in the country would have worsened had the previous dispensation continued for one more year. Bad days have come for those who looted the country," he said.
The Prime Minister said his government is committed to help the poor and highlighted social security schemes like the Jan Dhan Yojana and recently launched insurance schemes. Modi said he is on track to fulfil all his promises and have even curtailed corruption in government.
BJP sources said there will be series of public rallies organised by the party across the country during the week long celebrations from May 26 to 31 that will be addressed by various leaders.
The party and government will commemorate the completion of one year of its government as 'Jan Kalyan Parv' celebrations.
Union Ministers, BJP MPs and party functionaries will travel across the country to inform people about the welfare measures taken for the underprivileged sections and farmers as part of a week-long 'Jan Kalyan Parv'.
Modi led the BJP-led NDA to a massive win in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections whose results were announced a year ago on May 16. It was after 30 years that any party managed to secure majority in the Lok Sabha with the BJP alone winning 282 seats.
