New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a pitch for digital media as an important tool for campaigning for the 2019 parliamentary elections to a group of BJP MPs on Friday.
“Unless we are social media savvy, we cannot communicate. Digital is the new language. Mobile is the new communicator,” he apparently told the party MPs.
At a meeting with MPs from different states, his fifth and last such exercise, he told them that they need to have presence on digital platforms, especially through mobile phones, and use facebook, Whatsapp and twitter extensively.
A source told CNN-News18 that Modi has been telling MPs that interface is changing. He believes that in the coming elections social media and mobile phones will be the biggest interface between the communicators and voters at large.
“In 2019, digital platform will assume greater importance as it is online and transparent. You get instant feedback. We should be ready for that. Not only for the party but individuals as well,” Modi reportedly said.
PM Modi met party MPs from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu, besides nominated parliamentarians.
The digital platform is more transparent and real time, Modi said.
