Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will quit as the Gujarat Chief Minister on Tuesday. Following Modi's resignation, Gujarat will get a new Chief Minister.
Sources have told CNN-IBN that Modi's close aide Anandiben Patel is tipped to be his successor. She is perceived to be close to Modi and has been a long-standing minister in the Gujarat government.
If appointed, she will be the state's first woman chief minister. The new Gujarat CM and Cabinet ministers will take oath post noon on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a special session of the Gujarat Assembly has been called on Wednesday to felicitate Modi.
