'Politics Stooped to New Low Under Rahul Gandhi': Amit Shah Hits Out at Congress Over Fake Video Row

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday hit out at Congress over his fake video, saying that the Opposition should fight elections on manifesto, and not fake video. Shah added that politics has stooped to a new low under Rahul Gandhi.

Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Sunday informed that it has taken action against individuals responsible for circulating a doctored video of Shah, falsely suggesting his stance on reservations.

The FIR targets certain handles on social media platforms, which edited Shah’s statements to falsely suggest that the minister argued for ending reservations in the country.

Sharing the original and ‘edited’ videos of the home minister on ‘X’, Union minister Kiren Rijiju said that misleading the public is a disservice to democracy. “This irresponsible behaviour has the potential to disrupt peace,” he added.

Delhi police’s action came a day after BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya said that the Telangana Congress wing was spreading an edited video of Shah, “which is completely fake and has the potential to cause large-scale violence”.

Malviya on Tuesday said that Shah’s fake video was amplified by senior Congress leaders, and hence, FIRs have been filed across the country and legal action has been initiated. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to rid public discourse of fake news,” he added.

Amit Shah on Reservation

The Union home minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) believes that reservation cannot be given based on religion. However, the party supports quota for for SCs, STs and OBCs.

“Congress is spreading misinformation that BJP will end reservation after crossing 400 seats. These things are baseless and without facts. I want to make it clear that BJP is a supporter of reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs, and will always play its role as protector,” Amit Shah added.
