Rahul Gandhi to reach Amethi today, steps up battle against Modi government over food park

New Delhi: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will reach Amethi on Monday and step up the battle against the Modi government over proposed food park in his constituency. Rahul's three-day trip come days after Union Minister Smriti Irani visited the constituency.

Rahul will address a public meeting in Kasara village on May 19. UPCC general secretary Rajiv Singh said that Gandhi will inaugurate a number of projects completed from his MP fund including marriage houses, solar water pumps and some roads.

It is Rahul's first visit to Amethi after he returned from his nearly a two-month long sabbatical to a mysterious place. Rahul is attempting an image makeover to be seen as pro-farmer, pro-employment.

In the second phase of Budget session, Rahul had accused the NDA government of blocking the food park and called it a revenge politics.

Rejecting Rahul's allegation, Smriti had accused the him of misleading the people of Amethi as well as Parliament over the food park issue.

Rahul will also go to villages and meet dependents of the farmers, who lost their lives after suffering damage to their crops in recent untimely rains and hailstorms.
