In a generational shift, the Congress will now be led by a younger brigade with Rahul Gandhi set to replace his mother Sonia as the party president. There is already massive buzz in the political circles over the development and speculations are rife as to who all will make it to Rahul's team.
The Congress, facing an existential crisis in the country after being severely mauled in Lok Sabha and several state elections, is going through the transition. Earlier in 2015 when Rahul returned from his nearly two-month sabbatical, he changed his core team with younger staff.
While there is no clarity of the new team but there are several leaders who are seen as his close aide.Leaders believed to be closest to Rahul Gandhi: Ajay Maken, Randeep Surjewala, Jitendra Singh of Alwar, RPN SinghLeaders believed to be close to Rahul Gandhi: Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot, Jitin Prasada, Vijendra Singla, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Sushmita Dev, Gaurav Gogoi, AK Antony and K RajuThere is another group of professionals who are sees close to him: Sam Pitroda, Alankar Sawai, Prashant Kishor, Kaushal Vidyarthi and Mohan Gopal
But the big question is if will be a complete reshuffle or just a half reshuffle of general secretaries and joint secretaries. A half reshuffle will only mean delay in Rahul taking over as the Congress president. It will also mean Sonia and Rahul believing in retaining some of the old guard including AK Antony and even Kamal Nath.
