Wardha: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, who addressed a rally in Wardha on Tuesday, slammed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for ignoring the poor of the country during its rule at the centre even as he asserted that his party's focus was on the common man.
"We (Congress) see India from common man's eyes. Our programmes are for the poor of India. Our thinking is to take forward the poor of the country. Our Opposition does not see the world from the eyes of the poor," Rahul Gandhi said.
He criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) its "India Shining" campaign for the 2004 Lok Sabha polls and accused it of harping on the issue of privatisation at the cost of poverty alleviation.
"This is the thinking of big people. They fight for privatisation, stock exchange but do not reach your homes. But if a leader reaches your home they ridicule him because they do not understand what the poor need," Rahul Gandhi said.
