Retired Delhi High Court judge Rewa Khethrapal to be the new Lokayukta of Delhi

New Delhi: After a gap of nearly two years, Delhi is set to get its new Lokayukta. Retired Delhi High Court judge Rewa Khethrapal will be the new Ombudsman of Delhi.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung had a meeting with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta to come up with the final name for the top post. There was a unanimous agreement to appoint Khetrapal as the Lokayukta.

The post of Lokayukta in Delhi has been lying vacant since November 2013.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had faced flak for not making the appointment for over six months after coming to power. Kejriwal had quit as the Chief Minister of Delhi in February 2014 over failing to come to consensus over Lokayukta Bill.
