Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren on Saturday said that he would resign in a day or two after having discussion with his party members.
''We will have core committee meeting of the JMM this afternoon here where the members would be informed of what transpired with the UPA leadership in New Delhi,'' Soren told reporters at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi on his return after two-day stay in Delhi.
''After that the party would decide on the crucial matter (the timing of resignation),'' the beleaguered Chief Minister, who lost Tamar by-elections, said.
''I will go to New Delhi again to inform the UPA leadership of the JMM's stand and discuss next course of action,'' he added.
Asked if he would contest from Jamtara, Soren evaded a direct reply.
''I admit my defeat in Tamar and I respect people's verdict,'' he said.
Soren had lost the by-elections for the Tamar Assembly constituency by 9,062 votes to Jharkhand Party candidate Gopal Krishna Patar.
Soren is the second reigning Chief Minister in the country to face defeat in Assembly polls. The first one was former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Tribhuban Narayan Singh who too lost in a by-election in the sixties.
