New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday faced a strange problem in Lok Sabha when her shawl got stuck in the zip of her purse during an intense and heated debate over the Motion of Thanks to the President for his address to the joint sitting of Parliament.
Seeing his leader struggling to free her grey-coloured shawl from the zip of her purse, Mallikarjun Kharge offered help which Sonia readily accepted.
Kharge, the leader of the party in Lok Sabha, too struggled hard and finally managed to free the shawl from the clutches of Sonia's purse.
Sonia looked at her shawl and appeared relieved that it was in fine shape and did not get torn in the process.
The House also witnessed a mild uproar when Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi got up and started moving towards the exit.
"You don't want to listen," said BJP member Pralhad Joshi who was making a speech critical of the opposition party. He was joined by his other party colleagues who wanted Rahul to listen to Joshi's speech.
Rahul, who had earlier attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the policies of his government, was heard saying that he was going to washroom and would be back soon.
Rahul did come back after some time and listened to Joshi's speech.
