As the election fever rises in the high profile constituency of Lucknow, it is the BJP which has fired the first salvo. Party leader Sushma Swaraj termed cine star and Samajwadi party candidate Sanjay Dutt as a non-serious candidate. She also added that he would be no match for veteran BJP leader Lalji Tandon.
Members of the Madiga Reservation Poorata Samiti attempted to disrupt Congress president Sonia Gandhi rally in Hyderabad. And that was not all, 250 members of Chiranjeevi's Prajarajyam party were detained by the police for protesting against Sonia’s visit many of them held banners saying “Sonia Gandhiji see the Satyam behind the development”.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has supported former Maharashtra deputy chief minister R R Patil's stand that the Maharashtra chief ministership should be split between the Congress and the NCP. This demand comes when the Maharashtra government is in the last leg of its current tenure and is seen as the latest pressure tactic from the NCP ahead of seat sharing talks with the Congress.
