The N Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP’s stellar performance in the Lok Sabha elections is likely to be rewarded in the form of two posts — one minister and the other minister of state — in the new Union Cabinet. K Ram Mohan Naidu and Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani are likely to be sworn in as senior BJP leader Narendra Modi takes oath as the prime minister for a historic third term on Sunday.
Naidu is a three-time Lok Sabha MP, while Pemmasani, considered to be the richest MP, was elected to the House for the first time. With 16 Lok Sabha members in its kitty, the TDP’s support to the BJP-led NDA government at the centre becomes crucial. The NDA alliance of TDP, BJP and Janasena in Andhra Pradesh collectively won the lion’s share of 21 seats out of 25.
According to a post on X by former TDP MP Galla Jayadev, Naidu — who won from Srikakula — will get a cabinet minister post while Pemmasani from Guntur will get a minister of state (MoS) berth. “Congratulations to my young friend @RamMNK on being confirmed as a cabinet minister in the new #NDA Government! Your sincerity and humble nature will surely be an asset to the development of the country. Wishing you all the best in your new role!” Jaydev said about Naidu in his post.

Who else is likely to be part of Modi 3.0 govt?
Amid speculation of who will join the Modi 3.0 government, former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said there is “good news” for the people of Bihar and Gaya confirming his presence at the event at the PM’s official residence.
In a post in Hindi on X, he said: “I will be attending the programme organised at the residence of Honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji today at noon. There is good news for the people of Gaya and Bihar. Hail Magadh, Hail Bihar.”
— Jitan Ram Manjhi (@jitanrmanjhi) June 9, 2024
Apart from HAM(S) leader Manjhi, there are also indications that other allies such as Ram Nath Thakur and Lalan Singh of the JD(U), Chirag Paswan of the LJP(R) and Jayant Chaudhary of the RLD are being considered as ministers. Sources have said allies will get representation in the government in which the BJP is expected to keep key portfolios like home, defence, finance and external affairs.
Bigwigs like Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal and Jyotiraditya Scindia are being seen as natural choices for cabinet berths besides S Jaishankar. However, there has been no official comment from the BJP on its ministerial choices.
Former chief ministers like Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Basavaraj Bommai and Sarbananda Sonowal are among other obvious contenders in an exercise in which the BJP will have to factor in its shock losses in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra to recover its ground. Modi is expected to meet his ministerial choices before the oath-taking ceremony in the evening.
