New Delhi: Amidst talks of mid-term elections, an attempt seems underway to regroup the Third Front. Both SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav have invited West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the swearing-in ceremonies in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, respectively.
However, there has been no confirmation from Banerjee yet on whether she will be attending the events.
The Congress will be watching the events very closely, especially since the TMC has been targeting several UPA initiatives, among the recent ones being the NCTC plan and the RPF amendment bill.
The Congress has also tried to strike a conciliatory tone. Spokesperson Manish Tewari said on Saturday the Congress will walk the "extra mile for allies".
While Badal will be sworn in on March 14, UP's swearing-in will most likely take place later next week.
The development has also gained significance as it comes just ahead of the Budget Session of Parliament.
