New Delhi: The DMK will hold a high-level meeting on Saturday evening to officially decide the party's nominees for the Rajya Sabha.
Party sources say that daughter of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Kanimozhi, is likely to be announced as one of the two nominees.
The meeting comes a day before Karunanidhi leaves for New Delhi to attend a conference of the National Development Council.
The meeting is also expected to discuss the DMK's position on the nominations for President and Vice-President.
According to insiders the Rajya Sabha post is being seen as a stepping-stone for Karunanidhi's daughter for a berth in the Union Cabinet, since the post of MoS for Commerce is still vacant.
After former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran's ouster from the Cabinet, it seems Karunanidhi is trying to regain his foothold by ensuring that his son Stalin represents him at the state level and daughter Kanimozhi at the Centre.
Meanwhile, the move to replace Maran has however, brought to a halt speculations about the former telecom minister’s possible return to his post.
